Allotment History

1919

The earliest records that the association holds is that the
Rose Hill site (1 acre 1 rod ) was leased from the
Urban District of Marple
to
The Marple District Allotment Holders and Gardeners Association Limited

There are records of 2 other sites at this same time:

A site on the easterly side of Hibbert Lane (4 acres)

A site at Hawk Green known as Hopley's Farm (2 acres 1 rod)

1932

It is believed these 2 sites were lost and a new site given near
Station Road of 7 acres and 24 perches.

1977

This site again was lost when the Seven Stiles site (1.15 acres) started
it's life.

Although we are aware of the key dates of our allotment association
history we do lack a lot of detail.
