Potato Day

We are holding our annual Potato Day on:

Sunday 6th February 2022
from 09:30am until 2:00pm.

The object of the day is to make available a large selection of seed potatoes and other vegetables to allotment plot holders and members of the public.

The event will be run in accordance with national and local restrictions that are in force at the time this being due to the Coronavirus pandemic..

As the situation changes we will modify this webpage to give the best information that we can so please continue to review this site to check the latest situation.

Each year the produce is provided by Matthew Smith of Brighter Blooms Based in Walton-Le-Dale near Preston.

This Lancashire nursery is normally associated with stunning zantedeschias, commonly called arum lilies or calla lilies, for which it has won several RHS Chelsea Gold medals. However, the September show fell too late for their usual blooms so Matthew Smith tried something a little different, to creat an attractive display out of edible salads designed to inspire gardeners with small spaces. Here he talks us through their ideas, gives a tour of the nursery and finishes up with a quick how-to guide on creating an attractive bowl of humble salad leaves.
